Chicago Marathon Race Recap!

Location: Chicago, IL Weather: 58 Degrees and Rain Distance: Marathon (26.2 Miles) Finish Time: 2 Hours 59 Minutes 6 Seconds Overall: 1,195 out of 44,571 It has been a few days since the race and I still have a huge runner’s high! This race became more meaningful after I learned last week that I didn’t qualify for the 2019 Boston Marathon with my time of 3:00:25 last year at the Philadelphia Marathon. The cutoff to qualify was 3:00:08 – so I missed it by 17 seconds! That’s less than 1 second per mile. It was a huge disappointment because I had been looking forward to doing Boston for more than a year. As a result, I had something to prove at this race...

Tunnel to Towers 5k Race Recap

Location: Freedom Tower, New York City Weather: 70 Degrees and Sunny Distance: 5K (3.1 Miles) I’ve heard about this run for a few years, but never had the opportunity to participate due to conflicting engagements. With the Chicago Marathon a week away, this year was no exception, but I thought the cause was worth the risk. Never thought I'd wear this in a race! For those of you who do not know the story, this run was created in memory and honor of the first responders, who lost their lives...

Ironman 70.3 Atlantic City Race Recap

Location: Atlantic City, NJ Weather: 62 Degrees and Heavy Rain Distance: Half Ironman (1.2 Mile Swim, 56 Mile Bike, 13.1 Run) Finish Time: 4 Hours 52 Minutes 19 Seconds Overall: 124 out of 1,971 Division: 22 out of 168 Last race of the triathlon season! I wasn’t originally planning on doing another race after Ironman Lake Placid, but decided to sign up for this one a few months ago because it was in New Jersey and close to home. It was difficult training for this race and simultaneously training for the Chicago Marathon (October 7th). I had to increase my run volume the last few weeks, which took time away from biking and swimming. Nevertheless, I did extremely well and set another Personal Record...

10 days until Ironman Lake Placid!

Six months of training complete. It has been a long journey.  Swimming: 120,760 yards over 33 hours and 47 minutes Biking: 1,884 miles over 123 hours and 56 minutes Running: 667 miles over 85 hours and 34 minutes In the snow, rain, heat, and cold. Early mornings and late nights. Tired, sore and fatigued. Before work. After work. Long weekends. No sleeping in. Painful tempo, threshold and V02 Max intervals. Missed social activities. Limited sugar, processed food, alcohol and caffeine. For one goal: To become an Ironman. Last week capped the “peak” stage of my training and I finished it with two of my best workouts of the year. The first was a 15 mile progressive run with no carbohydrates (this makes...
